I just read this last month myself and had similar thoughts. It sounds like this short book was taken from a larger one of Flavel’s works, so I’m wondering if the imbalance you talk about with sin over grace changes in the full version of it ? It’s definitely made me want to read more of Flavel, particularly this full work on this topic.

As you mentioned, anyone who has a pulse has to battle with this so it’s definitely a worthwhile read. You’re right in that the culture has desensitized this topic so much these days, and it was good to see Flavel put it in its proper light.

I just finished reading this book a few months ago. What an encouraging and yet convicting book(let). I plan on giving this book to my two young boys in a few years. Ryle is so straightforward that it’s refreshing in the times we live in where so many lack a spine. Fantastic post!
