Accustomed to the Gospel

“During the first few weeks of being a Christian they couldn’t get enough of the gospel; they were captivated by its message. Gradually they began to settle into their new Christian life and began to learn the need for holiness and discipleship. The Bible’s teaching on things like prayer, faithfulness, obedience, and worship occupied their thinking and longings, imperceptibly, perhaps there grew in them a tendency to lose the simple thrill of being saved. They became accustomed to the gospel and thought they had outgrown their need for it. That message was for sinners and they now needed more than it offered.”
